LETTING BOARDS
Following extensive campaigning by Liberal Democrat Councillors, Newcastle City Council is introducing "No letting boards" areas.
ENVIROCALL
At the meeting of Newcastle City Council last week, Liberal Democrat Councillors were critical of the way the performance of this organisation has deteriorated under Labour. (It was set up to provide a rapid response to issues with local environments.) You can read the Evening Chronicle's "take" on this here : http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/newcastle-city-council-row-after-7719973
WARM UP NORTH
Did you know that, if your home is not insulated, you could be losing over 50% of all the heating in your home through your walls and roof? Warm Up North can help you save energy and save money with a range of insulation measures for your home, including solid-wall, cavity-wall and loft insulation. You can apply in three simple steps:
1. Call Warm Up North on 0800 294 8073.
2. Warm Up North will carry out a no-obligation, whole-house assessment to determine whether your property could benefit from energy-efficiency measures.
3. They will discuss your assessment report and potential costs to proceed. Warm Up North will then arrange with you the best time to book the installation
For more information call 0800 294 8073, visit www.warmupnorth.com or follow the scheme on Facebook or Twitter.

CYCLISTS
There is an active cycle lobby contacting councillors directly and via social media. We support the right of people to cycle safely but also expect cyclists to respect the safety of others, especially pedestrians.
Proposals have been made for a great deal of money to be spent to install more capacity for cyclists through Gosforth High Street, reducing the space available for cars and causing disruption over a long period. We'd welcome your views.
WALKER SPY
There's a rougher tougher eNewsletter out there by this name. In its latest edition:
Page 1: Opening The Door - New law gives the public rights to attend and report on all open council meetings and access major secret decisions. Plus: More earache looms from Labour czar Nick Forbes with four major events over the next eight weeks.
Page 2: Woes Of Walker - Damning report shows how city's most deprived ward is suffering even more under czar Forbes' budget cuts and co-op council policy - plus a reported attitude rift between council officers and voluntary community groups.
Page 3: Lost Council Homes - Tenants' Right To buy cuts council stock by 256 in just 24 months and new higher buying discounts could make that soar even more. Plus: Labour vote plunges as LibDems win North Jesmond by-election. Plus: A new free public website to track what all 12 North-East councils are doing, including daily news bulletins.
Page 4: Purge on Councillors? - Czar Forbes may now cut the city council's 78 councillors by a third to only 52 in a bid to keep Labour in power for years ahead. Plus: Forbes' new ruling Cabinet of 14 members and deputies - including eight rookies with little council experience.
Page 5: Science City Shock - Surprise Labour council statement changing the 10-year vision of a world-class powerhouse to boost local jobs and economic growth. Now, after tens of £millions invested in that dream, the new Labour aim is a vague "living laboratory to map out the city of the future."
