Gosforth High Street BID plan takes shape

8 Aug 2011

A timetable has been set to try to establish a Business Improvement District (BID) in Gosforth High Street for the start of the next financial year. A BID enables 1% of the business rate to be collected for improvements to the area. A BID in the City Centre has been successful, most recently securing the creation of the 'Grey Street Garden'. A similar development in Gosforth could help generate trade and interest in local services.

A BID requires a ballot of the businesses. The West Gosforth ward councillors are supporting efforts being led by representatives of Trinity Church and the Shopping Centre to put the BID in place.
