Heaton Park Go Ape proposal: The Full Story

Ouseburn Ward Liberal Democrats ran a petition in early April, to protect Heaton Park from a large commercial ropes course run by Go Ape.

While successful in its aims, our campaign has stirred up a political row, and a number of misleading allegations have been made against it.

Following a formal request to the Council, we have received more information on the history of the proposals, and have published a document to set the record straight.

This document tells the whole story, including that:

• The proposal had been under detailed discussion with the Council for at least a year
• Go Ape actually paid the Council for advice on how to help it succeed.
