Jesmond Library plans backed

5 Jan 2010

Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman for Newcastle East Greg Stone has welcomed plans by North Jesmond Lib Dem councillors to fund disability access improvements to Jesmond Library. The building has not been upgraded since it was built in the 1960s and is now not particularly accessible for people with limited mobility. Lib Dem councillors are proposing a £37,000 improvement programme funded from the local ward budget, and plans of the proposed improvements are on display.

Greg Stone said "Jesmond is a very popular local library and I am delighted that the North Jesmond Lib Dem councillors are working with users and library staff to support these welcome improvements"
