Just say NO - Tory extremist policies Lib Dems have blocked

12 Jan 2015

"I always thought it was better, in politics, to tell people about the things you've achieved, not just the things you've stopped. But sometimes compromise and agreement isn't possible and you just have to say NO", - Rt Hon Nick Clegg MP, Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of the Liberal Democrat Party.

But in the light of Labour's electioneering smears, the record should be put straight. Here's 16 Conservative policies that the Liberal Democrats have stymied>

1. Cutting Inheritance Tax for millionaires by raising threshold to £1 million

2. Bringing back O-levels

3. A two-tier education system

4. Profit-making in state schools

5. Worsening child-care ratios

6. Firing workers without giving a reason

7. Regional pay, which would penalise public sector workers in the north

8. Scrapping housing benefit for young people

9. Ditching the Human Rights Act

10. Weakening the protections in the Equalities Act

11. Stopping debate on replacing the Trident delivery system

12. Parliamentary boundary changes

13. Scrapping Natural England

14. Holding back green energy

15. Stopping geography teachers telling children about how we tackle climate change

16. The snoopers' charter (draft communications data bill)

The Conservatives are already saying these are amongst policies they want to bring in if they win outright control of the House of Commons at the General Election. If they do, we will also carry the fight to the House of Lords!
