Lib Dems deliver service, action, & satisfaction!

26 Oct 2010

The North Heaton Lib Dem FOCUS Team - KAREN, DOREEN, and GREG - have welcomed the results of the council's independently-researched 2010 Residents Survey which showed our area as one of the most satisfied areas of the city. Hundreds of residents from all 26 wards in the city took part in the study. For some reason wards with Lib Dem councillors performed significantly better than ones with Labour councillors!

The local resident satisfaction levels were particularly high in North Heaton, which consistently scored at or near the top of the city league table. 87% of people feel satisfied with North Heaton as a place to live and 89% of people think local people get on well in this area - both well above the city average. 71% of people think the council is on the whole is well run and efficient, and the number of residents who feel that the area has improved over the past two years has increased from 45% to 59%. Residents in the area are particularly supportive of local recycling, local environmental maintenance, and library services.

It was particularly pleasing to see a big fall in the number of people who felt that noise and disturbance, youth disorder, drink-related disorder, and drugs were a problem in this area, with most people saying that they felt safe in this area by day and night. On the negative side, pavements were often mentioned as an issue - we agree and are continuing to invest in upgrading as many a year as we can. Residents also felt that they didn't always know how they could influence council decision-making. If that applies to you, feel free to contact us with your thoughts - we're here to represent you and always do our best to take local people's views into account!
