Vince Cable's Liberal Democrats have voted to give our armed forces a pay rise.

Liberal Democrats Armed Forces Group co-ordinator, Newcastle Councillor Robin Ashby, says, "I'm proud that the Liberal Democrats voted at our Bournemouth conference to ditch the public sector pay freeze for our armed forces."

"Recently we've seen our troops out on our streets, standing up for our country overseas, and putting their lives on the line. These men and women deserve our thanks and a fair deal. That's what the Liberal Democrats will give them".
