Library to close for refurbishment

24 Feb 2011

Jesmond library is scheduled to close on Monday 14 March to allow improvements to the Community Room, provision of public toilet facilities, rewiring and the installation of new issue facilities. Many of the improvements will be paid for from the ward capital fund, following decisions made by the Lib Dem ward councillors. The total cost of the work is close to £80,000.

During the closure the City mobile library will be parked in the Jesmond Legion Club car park on Wednesdays from 9am - 11.45am and 1.30pm - 4pm. Library customers will also be able to drop off items they wish to return at Cafe 1901 in Jesmond Methodist Church ( next door to the library ).

The work is expected to be completed near Easter.
