Making a difference for vunrable older people

15 Apr 2011

Newcastle's Adult Services were again judged "excellent" by the Care Quality Commission this year and are now the best in Tyne and Wear.

Further developments to the services will continue. The Welford Centre in Gosforth is a day centre of excellence for people with learning difficulties and will have its activities extended. The re-ablement service, which supports people in the first few weeks at home after an accident, severe illness or surgery, is now fully operational with our own, well-trained staff.

Lib Dem Executive Member for Adult Care and Health, Cllr Liz Langfield, said "The changes we are introducing are making a real difference to people's lives. Vulnerable people will have more choice and a range of services that are more responsive to their individual needs."
