Metro Woes Continue

Jesmond councillor Gerry Keating has shared the frustrations of long-suffering Metro passengers after the latest announcement by Nexus of futher delays to the arrival of the much-heralded, and much-needed, new Metro trains until at least the end of 2024.

Originally, the trains were due to be in service from summer 2023, but further testing is now required. Cllr Gerry Keating said, “the existing Metro trains have been showing their age for some time, and what used to be an excellent service is now very unreliable, with frequent breakdowns, and standard announcements of ‘gaps in service'. The announcement of yet further delays to the introduction of the new trains is just an added frustration."
