Parklands Ward Report 2015 - Part 2 - your views

23 Apr 2015

Thank you to all of those residents who returned the Residents' Survey form to us, or completed it on line. You let us know about your views and made us aware of your local issues and concerns. We are already following up on specific issues mentioned and will keep you informed of progress in Focus and in our new efocus. If you'd like to be added to our efocus list please contact Cllr Robin Ashby at gosforth.efocus@gmail.com He will then add you to our regular mailing list, so you'll get news more quickly.

We have had a great response to the survey and thought you would be interested in an overview of the major concerns raised by everyone who participated.

Traffic issues top the list of problems, with 70% of those responding identifying it as a concern. Adding in parking problems (34%) and potholes (32%), along with comments made by many people, the major cause of the problem is clear. The Council's mis-management of the Great North Road traffic scheme has been nothing short of shambolic! This is probably why the Labour-run Council has stopped listening to local residents, businesses and councillors - but we will keep on raising your concerns.

Other responses indicate that 69% of respondents use public transport and 25% use their bikes. Nationally, 42% support Lib Dem moves to raise income tax thresholds to £12,500. More locally, dog fouling (30%) and clean neighbourhoods (31%) are seen as important.

We will use all your views to guide our approach over the coming months to tackling issues in order to maintain Parklands as a great place to live.

If we haven't delivered a survey form to your home yet you can go the Surveys section of this website and complete the survey online.

And we always want to hear from you about specific issues as they arise - email pauline.allen@newcastle.gov.uk or any one of us
