Patrick presses for action on "The land that time forgot"

Westerhope Lib Dem candidate Patrick Morrissey has called for action on the land that time forgot. Just off Norham Drive, behind an eyesore of a wooden gate, is a rubbish-strewn pathway. It leads to a neglected and overgrown area at the back of Mitford Drive.

"It's been reported many times by frustrated residents but nothing has happened to clean the site and find a new use for it" said Patrick. "It's time that Your Homes Newcastle and the city council got a grip of the problem and accepted some responsibility. Under the cover of darkness, irresponsible residents tip rubbish and household items over the gate, and there's a risk of rodent infestation ."

Self-seeded trees are putting pressure on garden fences. Some months ago, one tree in the hard standing area was chopped down and cut up
into logs but these and the accompanying branches have yet to be removed.

"It would make an ideal site for a bungalow or two" said Patrick - "just the kind of small-scale development that the Lib Dem city council encouraged Your Homes Newcastle to bring forward all over the city, building council houses for the first time in 25 years."
