Salters Road/High Street signal timings changed

Engineers have agreed to alter the timing of the signals again at the Salters Road and High Street junction in Gosforth to try to alleviate congestion and promote road safety.

At peak times it is not unusual for traffic built up in the south-facing filter lane, turning into Salters Road from the High Street, to end up crossing the pedestrian access when the signals indicate pedestrians are entitled to cross. Various complaints have been received over a long period.
