SAVE FAWDON LIBRARY! Join our campaign. Ring 277 4100 or email fawdon.library@newcastle.gov.uk if you can volunteer for an hour or two a week, or to find out more. January 2015
Congratulations to North Fawdon Primary School, now assessed as a "good" school in the latest Ofsted report. The inspectors' report, published on 12 January, says "The school's motto of 'learn together, aim high and succeed' has quickly become a reality in this rapidly improving school."
No date yet for a planning committee hearing of the Red House Farm Football Club application for fencing the pitches at Kingston Park Rd fields.
We asked for the timing of the traffic lights at the Jubilee Rd-Kenton Rd/Wansbeck Rd to be altered to give extra time for the flows along Jubilee Rd - at rush-hours there is considerable back up in Coxlodge and (at the other side) towards the Metro crossing. They have now been altered and will be monitored.
The new car park at Kenton Park Sports Centre has been completed, and lighting is soon to be installed. Funds have been obtained to resurface the multi-use sports pitch.
Another round of "Bright Sparks" grants for small community projects in our area is about to be launched with amounts between £250 and £1000 available. Local organisations and groups will be notified soon and a leaflet and poster will be produced for general availability.
