Several Gosforth High Street traffic plans paused after Liberal Democrat campaign

19 Jun 2015

We've just been told Newcastle City Council is issuing a statement saying they are pausing a lot of the Gosforth High Street traffic plans to concentrate on other areas, although the Salters Road straightening will still be going ahead (that is, closure of the car park and routing Salters Road across it to change the double traffic light junction to a single one)

They are also awaiting the result of a case put to the Local Government Ombudsman

The 9 Liberal Democrat councillors for Gosforth said "This is a great result for our campaign inside the council and by residents and traders outside the council.

"The council should use the time to reconsult and give the people of Gosforth what THEY want!"
